Hadith Twenty-Six:
Abū Yahyā Ismā‘īl ibn Abī ‘Abd Allāh ibn Hammād ibn ‘Abd al-Karīm al-‘Asqalānī informed us, through my reading to him in 681 AH, as did Abū al-‘Abbās ibn Shaybān, al-Jammāl Ahmad ibn Abī Bakr al-Hamawī, Abū al-Hasan ibn al-Bukhārī, and ‘Alī ibn Mahmūd ibn Shihāb. They said:
Abū Hafs ‘Umar ibn Muhammad ibn Tabarzadh al-Baghdādī informed us, as it was read to him: Hibat Allāh ibn Muhammad ibn al-Husayn al-Shaybānī informed us: Abū Tālib Muhammad ibn Muhammad ibn Ibrāhīm ibn Ghaylān al-Bazzār informed us: Abū Bakr Muhammad ibn ‘Abd Allāh ibn Ibrāhīm al-Shāfi‘ī informed us: Abū al-Hasan ‘Alī ibn al-Hasan ibn ‘Abdawayh al-Jarrār informed us: ‘Abd Allāh ibn Bakr al-Sahmī narrated to us: Humayd narrated to us, from Anas, who said:
“Allah’s Messenger, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was on a road with some of his Companions when a woman approached him and said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, I have something to ask of you.’ He said, ‘O mother of so-and-so, sit down at the nearest spot in the lanes so that I may sit with you.’ She did so, and he sat with her until she had explained what she needed.”
Ahmad related it from ‘Abd Allāh ibn Bakr.
