so they offered them compensation, but they refused. They then asked for a pardon, but they refused. They went to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and he ordered retaliation in kind. Her brother, Anas ibn al-Nadr, came and said, “O Messenger of Allah, has the tooth of al-Rubayyi‘ been broken? By Him who sent you with the truth, her tooth shall not be broken!”

He replied, “O Anas, Allah’s Book prescribes retaliation in kind.” The people then pardoned her, and the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, “Among Allah’s servants are those who, if they were to adjure Allah, He would surely grant their request.”}

Al-Bukhārī related it from al-Ansārī. He was born in 592 AH and died in Shawwāl 672 AH.

The fifth hadith:

The pilgrim and hadith transmitter Abū Muhammad Abū Bakr ibn Muhammad ibn Abī Bakr ibn Abd al-Wāsi‘ al-Harawī informed us on 4 Rabī‘ al-Awwal 668 AH, as did those previously mentioned, through their chain of transmission to al-Ansārī, who said: Humayd narrated to me, from Anas, who said:

The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:

{“Support your brother, whether he is an oppressor or is oppressed.”

I asked, “O Messenger of Allah, I support him when he is oppressed, but how do I support him when he is an oppressor?”

He replied, “You prevent him from committing oppression; that is how you support him.”}
