the evils of our own souls and from our evil deeds. Whoever Allah guides, none can lead astray; and whoever He leads astray, none can guide. We bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah alone, without partner, and we bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger. He sent him with guidance and the religion of truth to make it prevail over all religions, even though the polytheists dislike it. May Allah bestow blessings and abundant peace upon Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

The First Hadith

The imam Zayn al-Dīn Abū al-Abbās Ahmad ibn Abd al-Dā’im ibn Niʿmah ibn Ahmad al-Maqdisī informed us, through a reading aloud to him while I listened in 667 AH: Abū al-Faraj Abd al-Munʿim ibn Abd al-Wahhāb ibn Saʿd ibn Kulayb informed us, through a reading aloud to him: Abū al-Qāsim Alī ibn Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Bayān al-Razzāz informed us, through a reading aloud to him: Abū al-Hasan Muhammad ibn Muhammad ibn Muhammad ibn Ibrāhīm ibn Makhlad al-Bazzāz informed us: Abū Alī Ismāʿīl ibn Muhammad ibn Ismāʿīl al-Saffār informed us: Al-Hasan ibn Arafah ibn Yazīd al-Abdī narrated to us: Abū Bakr ibn Ayyāsh narrated to me, from Abū Ishāq al-Sabīʿī, from al-Barā’ ibn Āzib, who said:

‘The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, set out with his Companions, and we entered ihram for Hajj.

شُرُورِ أَنْفُسِنَا وَمِنْ سَيِّئَاتِ أَعْمَالِنَا مَنْ يَهْدِهِ اللَّهُ فَلَا مُضِلَّ لَهُ وَمَنْ يُضَلِّلْ فَلَا هَادِيَ لَهُ. وَنَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إلَهَ إلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ وَنَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَرْسَلَهُ بِالْهُدَى وَدِينِ الْحَقِّ لِيُظْهِرَهُ عَلَى الدِّينِ كُلِّهِ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ الْمُشْرِكُونَ. وَصَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ وَصَحْبِهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَسْلِيمًا. الْحَدِيثُ الْأَوَّلُ: أَخْبَرَنَا الْإِمَامُ زَيْنُ الدِّينِ أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ أَحْمَد بْنُ عَبْدِ الدَّائِمِ بْنِ نِعْمَةَ ابْنِ أَحْمَد المقدسي قِرَاءَةً عَلَيْهِ وَأَنَا أَسْمَعُ سَنَةَ ٦٦٧ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْفَرَجِ عَبْدُ الْمُنْعِمِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ كُلَيْبٍ قِرَاءَةً عَلَيْهِ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَحْمَد بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ بَيَانٍ الرَّزَّازُ قِرَاءَةً عَلَيْهِ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ مخلد الْبَزَّازُ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ إسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إسْمَاعِيلَ الصَّفَّارُ حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَرَفَةَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ العبدي حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ عَنْ أَبِي إسْحَاقَ السبيعي عَنْ الْبَرَاءِ ابْنِ عَازِبٍ قَالَ: {خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَصْحَابُهُ فَأَحْرَمْنَا بِالْحَجِّ.
