in an authentic hadith:
“Were any of you to spend as much gold as Mount Uhud, it would not equal one mudd (a measure) given by any one of them, nor even half of it.”
He said this concerning his earliest and foremost Companions, may Allah be pleased with them. Thus, when it is said that the reward for “Say: He is Allah, One” equals the reward for one-third of the Quran, equality in all other respects must be taken into account. Otherwise, if reciting other passages with reflection and humility is compared with reciting this surah in heedlessness and ignorance, that equivalence does not hold.
Indeed, a servant’s saying:
“Glory be to Allah, praise be to Allah, there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, and Allah is the Greatest,”
with an attentive heart imbued with these meanings may be better than reciting this surah in ignorance and heedlessness. People differ in their understanding of this surah and what it contains, just as they differ in their understanding of the rest of the Quran.
Section
The foundation of this issue is to understand that differences in excellence and equality can exist only between two or more things. Within that which is one in every respect, it is inconceivable that one thing should be better than another. Differences in excellence among His attributes, exalted is He, are therefore conceivable only if multiple attributes are affirmed for Him, such as knowledge, power, will, love, hatred, pleasure, and anger. Likewise, multiple names denoting multiple meanings are affirmed for Him, and multiple words are affirmed for Him
