after knowledge had come to them, out of mutual rivalry. Your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning that over which they differed.”

He also says:

“Then We set you upon a clear way concerning the religion, so follow it, and do not follow the desires of those who do not know.”

The Most High says:

“Mankind was one community. Then Allah sent the prophets as bearers of good news and warnings, and sent down with them the Scripture in truth to judge between people concerning that over which they differed.”

Then He says:

“None differed over it except those who had been given it, after clear proofs had come to them, out of mutual rivalry. Then Allah, by His permission, guided those who believed to the truth concerning which they had differed. Allah guides whom He wills to a straight path.”

He thus states that Allah, by His permission, guided the believers to the truth concerning which people had differed. This disagreement therefore existed before the community of Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, came into being.

“The Sabbath was imposed only upon those who differed concerning it. Your Lord will surely judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning that over which they differed.”
