This is because what the Messenger brought is from Allah’s knowledge. Whatever he reported from Allah was declared by Allah Himself. He, glorified be He, speaks with knowledge; it is impossible for Him to declare anything contrary to His knowledge. Whatever the Messenger commanded comes from Allah’s judgment, and Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise. Allah Most High says:

“But Allah bears witness to what He has sent down to you: He sent it down with His knowledge. The angels also bear witness, and sufficient is Allah as a witness.”

Allah Most High also says:

“Or do they say, ‘He has fabricated it’? Say, ‘Then bring ten fabricated surahs like it, and call upon whomever you can besides Allah, if you are truthful.’”

“But if they do not respond to you, then know that it was sent down with Allah’s knowledge and that there is no deity worthy of worship except Him. Will you then submit?”

Regarding His words, “He sent it down with His knowledge,” al-Zajjāj said: “He sent it down containing His knowledge.” Abū Sulaymān al-Dimashqī said: “He sent it down from His knowledge.” Others have given the same explanation.

This meaning is transmitted from the early generations, as Ibn Abī Hātim narrated from ‘Atā’ ibn al-Sā’ib, who said: “Abū ‘Abd al-Rahmān taught me to recite the Quran. Whenever he taught one of us to recite the Quran, he would say, ‘You have received Allah’s knowledge, so no one today is better than you except by virtue of his deeds.’ Then he would recite:

‘He sent it down with His knowledge. The angels also bear witness, and sufficient is Allah as a witness.’”

Likewise, regarding the words of Allah Most High, “Then know that it was sent down with Allah’s knowledge,” they said: “He sent it down containing His knowledge.”
