Weeping over ruins and abandoned camps … loving, yet knowing not whom.”

As for the shaykh—may Allah be good to him—Allah has endowed him with light and knowledge—the foundation of love and will—that distinguish the clearly defined love rooted in faith and the way of Muhammad from generalized love shared by others. Just as this lack of distinction occurs in love, it also occurs in affirming Allah’s oneness. Allah Most High says in the Mother of the Book, which the servant is required to recite in every prayer:

“You alone we worship, and You alone we ask for help.”

It is established in an authentic hadith that Allah says:

“I have divided the prayer between Myself and My servant into two halves: half is Mine and half is My servant’s, and My servant shall have what he asks for. When the servant says, ‘All praise is for Allah, Lord of all worlds,’ Allah says, ‘My servant has praised Me.’ When he says, ‘The Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful,’ Allah says, ‘My servant has extolled Me.’ When he says, ‘Master of the Day of Judgment,’ He says, ‘My servant has glorified Me,’ or He says, ‘My servant has entrusted his affairs to Me.’ When he says, ‘You alone we worship, and You alone we ask for help,’ He says, ‘This verse is divided into two halves between Myself and My servant, and My servant shall have what he asks for.’ When he says, ‘Guide us to the straight path,’ ‘The path of those You have blessed, not those who have incurred wrath, nor those who have gone astray,’ He says, ‘These are for My servant, and My servant shall have what he asks for.’”

For this reason, it has been reported that Allah revealed one hundred and four books, gathering their meanings in the Quran, the meanings of the Quran in the Mufassal section, the meanings of the Mufassal section in the Mother of the Book, and the meanings of
