He wills.” This necessarily entails knowledge of the intended end and of the path leading to it. The same applies to His full awareness. A detailed discussion would be lengthy; the purpose here is merely to draw attention to what is contained in the verses that were the first to be revealed.
Once it is established that He is powerful and knowing, this necessarily entails that He is living. Likewise, will necessarily entails life. A living being who does not hear, see, or speak would be characterized by the opposite attributes: blindness, deafness, and muteness. This is impossible with respect to the Lord Most High. He must therefore possess hearing, sight, and speech.
Will either serves a wise purpose or does not. If it does not serve a wise purpose, it is foolishness, and He is far exalted above that. He must therefore be wise. Furthermore, He either intends to benefit His creatures and show them kindness, intends merely to harm and torment them, or intends neither, but wills whatever He wills, regardless of whether it brings benefit or harm. The second possibility would entail evil and injustice, from which the Lord is far exalted; the third would entail foolishness and frivolity. It follows necessarily that He, Most High, is merciful just as He is wise, as has been explained at length elsewhere.
