And Shaykh al-Islām—may Allah sanctify his soul—said:

In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

From Ahmad ibn Taymiyya:

To the shaykh Abū al-Fath Nasr, a man of spiritual knowledge, an exemplar, a follower of the spiritual path, and a devout worshipper. May Allah grant him, inwardly and outwardly, the blessings He has granted the hearts of His close servants, and aid him against the devils among humankind and jinn in his public and private life. May He make clear through him the path of Muhammad, which accords with his revealed law, and disclose through him the reality of religion that distinguishes between His creation and obedience to Him, and between His will and His love. Thus may people clearly see the distinction between words pertaining to creation and words pertaining to religion, and between sincere, righteous believers and the hypocrites who imitate them, just as Allah has distinguished between them in His Book and His Sunnah.

To proceed: Allah Most High has bestowed upon the shaykh—and, through him, upon others—inward and outward blessings in religious and worldly affairs. He has granted him a lofty standing and divinely bestowed affection among those distinguished Muslims who seek neither exaltation on earth nor corruption, because of what he has been granted
