the liars.” He also said:

“I am your lord, the Most High.”

And he said to Moses:

“If you take a god other than me, I will surely imprison you.”

He also said:

“O Hāmān, build me a lofty tower so that I may reach the pathways—the pathways of the heavens—and look upon the God of Moses; indeed, I think he is a liar.”

Yet Allah commanded Moses to say what He relates in the Quran:

“And when your Lord called Moses, ‘Go to the wrongdoing people—the people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear Allah?’ He said, ‘My Lord, I fear that they will deny me, and my chest tightens and my tongue is not fluent, so send for Aaron. They also have a charge against me, so I fear they will kill me.’ He said, ‘No! Go, both of you, with Our signs. We are with you, listening. Go to Pharaoh and say, “We are messengers from the Lord of all worlds: send the Children of Israel with us.”’ Pharaoh said, ‘Did we not raise you among us as a child, and did you not spend years of your life among us? And you committed that deed of yours, and you were ungrateful.’ Moses said, ‘I did it then, when I was among those who were astray. So I fled from you when I feared you; then my Lord granted me wisdom and made me one of the messengers.’”

Pharaoh said, in denial and rejection:

“And what is the Lord of all worlds?”

Moses said:

“The Lord of the heavens and the earth and everything between them, if you have certainty.”

“Pharaoh said to those around him, ‘Do you not hear?’ Moses said, ‘Your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers.’ Pharaoh said, ‘This messenger of yours who has been sent to you is surely mad.’ Moses said, ‘The Lord of the east and the west and everything between them’”—and the following verses.
