Along with both of these, He strengthened him with patience to bear their abuse. He also enabled him to give them what they desperately need, without recompense, even as they subject him to coercion and harm him for it. This is greater still than offering beneficial medicine to the sick and administering it without recompense while they cause him harm, as a compassionate father does. Indeed, he is the father of the believers. Likewise, He described his community by saying:

“You are the best community brought forth for mankind.”

Abū Hurayrah said: “You are the best people for mankind: you bring them in chains until you bring them into Paradise.”

Thus they strive, sacrificing their lives and wealth for the benefit and betterment of people, even though those people, in their ignorance, resent it. As Ahmad said in his address:

“Praise be to Allah, who has appointed, in every age without messengers, a remnant of the people of knowledge who call those who have strayed to guidance and patiently endure their abuse. Through Allah’s Book they bring the dead to life, and through Allah’s light they give sight to the blind. How many whom Iblīs had slain have they brought to life, and how many lost wanderers have they guided! How good their effect on people, and how harmful people’s effect on them!”

And so his words continue. Such is the case, and to Allah belongs praise—abundant, pure, and blessed praise. He, Glorified is He, recompenses people for their deeds, and Allah aids His servant as long as the servant aids his brother.
