We have discussed at length elsewhere the methods people use to establish the existence of the Creator and the truth of prophethood. We have shown that every method containing something contrary to the Sunnah is rationally invalid, just as it is contrary to revelation. The well-known method among speculative theologians is to infer the temporal origination of bodies from the temporal origination of accidents. We have examined this method in several places and shown that it contradicts both revelation and reason.

Many people know that it is an innovation in religion but do not know that it is rationally unsound. Some suppose that it is sound according to both reason and revelation, and that it was the method of Abraham, Allah’s close friend, peace be upon him. The invalidity of this has been demonstrated elsewhere.
