And in this Allah has wise purposes and benefits that are blessings for His servants. Everything Allah Most High decrees is a blessing He bestows upon His servants. Thus, after enumerating what He mentions, He says:

“So which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny?”

After mentioning what He relates in Sūrat al-Najm, including the destruction of those who denied the messengers, He says:

“Then which of your Lord’s blessings do you doubt?”

Their destruction is therefore among our Lord’s blessings. His blessings testify to His mercy, wisdom, will, power, and lordship—glorified and exalted is He.

Among the benefits of reminding someone who avoids the reminder is that, once the proof has been established against him and he deserves punishment, the harm suffered by the believers is thereby lessened. For Allah destroys such people through punishment from Himself or at the believers’ hands. Through such a person’s destruction, faith triumphs and spreads, and others take heed—a tremendous benefit. His death is also hastened, leaving him less time in disbelief. Allah sent Muhammad as a mercy to all worlds, and through him mercy reaches everyone to the extent possible.

Moreover, by avoiding the reminder, such a person deserves the punishment threatened here, and this becomes a warning to others against doing as he did. The Exalted says:

“So We made it a deterrent for those present and for those who came after them.”

And the Exalted says concerning Pharaoh: “So We made them
