humans and jinn, as He says:

“That I may warn you through it, and whoever it reaches.”

Thus, every human or jinn whom the Quran reaches has been warned through it by the Messenger. Warning means giving notice of something to be feared: the punishment that befalls whoever disobeys his commands and prohibitions. He has therefore informed everyone whom the Quran reaches that, unless they obey him, Allah Most High will punish them, and that, if they obey him, Allah Most High will honor them. Now that he has died, obedience to him consists in following what the Quran contains of Allah’s obligations and prohibitions, as well as what the Messenger made obligatory or prohibited through his Sunnah. For the Quran has made clear that obedience to him is obligatory and that Allah sent down to him the Book and wisdom. He said to His Prophet’s wives:

“And remember what is recited in your homes of Allah’s verses and wisdom.”

Section

Then He said:

“And Who brings forth pasture,”

“Then makes it dark stubble.”

When He, glorified is He, said, “He ordained and guided,” this included the provision He ordained for His servants and the animals, and His guiding them to it. Thus, He guided those who bring it to them.
