and sight? Who brings the living out of the dead and the dead out of the living? And who governs all affairs? They will say, ‘Allah.’ Then say: Will you not fear Him?”
“Such is Allah, your true Lord. What is there beyond the truth except error? How, then, are you turned away?”
“Thus your Lord’s word has come true against those who defiantly disobey: they will not believe.”
“Say: Can any of those you associate with Allah originate creation and then repeat it? Say: Allah originates creation and then repeats it. How, then, are you deluded?”
“Say: Can any of those you associate with Allah guide to the truth? Say: Allah guides to the truth. Is He who guides to the truth more worthy of being followed, or one who cannot find the way unless he is guided? What is the matter with you? How do you judge?”
“Most of them follow nothing but conjecture. Surely conjecture is no substitute for the truth. Indeed, Allah knows all that they do.”
He, exalted be He, also says:
“Is He who creates like one who does not create? Will you not then take heed?”
“If you tried to count Allah’s blessings, you could never enumerate them. Indeed, Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.”
“Allah knows what you conceal and what you reveal.”
“Those they invoke besides Allah create nothing; they themselves are created.”
“They are dead, not living, and they do not know when they will be resurrected.”
Likewise, He says later in the surah:
“Allah sets forth an example: an owned slave who has no power over anything, and one whom We have granted good provision from Us, from which he spends privately and openly. Are they equal? Praise be to Allah! But most of them do not know.”
“And Allah sets forth an example of two men: one is mute, powerless over anything, and a burden on his master; wherever he sends him, he brings no good. Is he equal to one who commands justice and is himself on a straight path?”
Thus He, glorified be He, makes clear that He alone deserves worship, rather than those worshipped besides Him
