“Surah al-Anbiyā’” is the surah of the Reminder and the surah of the prophets to whom the Reminder was revealed. Allah begins it with His words:
“No new reminder comes to them from their Lord”—to the end of the verse.
And His words:
“Ask the people of the Reminder if you do not know.”
“We have certainly sent down to you a Book in which you are mentioned.”
“This is the reminder of those with me and the reminder of those before me.”
“And a reminder for the righteous.”
“And this is a blessed Reminder.”
“And We have already written in the Psalms, after the Reminder.”
And His words:
“He said, ‘My Lord, judge in truth.’”
This means—and Allah knows best—“Grant victory to those who uphold the truth,” or “Grant victory to the truth.” It has also been interpreted as: “Judge in truth between us and our people.” The prophets used to say:
“Our Lord, judge between us and our people in truth.”
And He commanded Muhammad to say:
“My Lord, judge in truth.”
Mālik narrated from Zayd ibn Aslam, who said: “Whenever the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was present at a battle, he would say: ‘He said, “My Lord, judge in truth.”’”
