and to have faith, and to do what this requires: remain patient until the appointed time comes and seek forgiveness so that sins may be removed and he may truly possess the quality to which the promise applies.

As Allah Most High says:

“So be patient. Surely Allah’s promise is true. And do not let those who lack certainty unsettle you.”

And He Most High says:

“So be patient. Surely Allah’s promise is true. Whether We show you some of what We promise them or cause you to die…”

—to the end of the verse. The verses concerning this subject are numerous and well known. And Allah Most High knows best.
