This is like the words of Moses, peace be upon him, to his people:
“Seek Allah’s help and be patient. Indeed, the earth belongs to Allah; He grants it as an inheritance to whomever He wills among His servants. The final outcome belongs to the God-fearing.”
When Pharaoh said:
“We will kill their sons and spare their women. Indeed, we have overwhelming power over them,”
“Moses said to his people, ‘Seek Allah’s help and be patient. Indeed, the earth belongs to Allah; He grants it as an inheritance to whomever He wills among His servants. The final outcome belongs to the God-fearing.’”
Likewise, Allah says:
“As for those who emigrated for Allah’s sake after suffering oppression, We will surely provide them with a good home in this world. Yet the reward of the Hereafter is greater, if only they knew.”
“Those who are patient and put their trust in their Lord.”
Another example is the statement of Joseph, peace be upon him:
“Indeed, Allah does not let the reward of those who do good go to waste.”
This parallels His words:
“If you are patient and mindful of Allah, their plotting will not harm you at all.”
And His words:
“If you are patient and mindful of Allah, that is indeed a matter requiring firm resolve.”
And His words:
“Yes, if you are patient and mindful of Allah, and they come upon you suddenly, your Lord will reinforce you with five thousand angels bearing distinguishing marks.”
Thus, one must be mindful of Allah by doing what He commands and patiently endure what He decrees, as Joseph, peace be upon him, did. He feared Allah by abstaining from sexual immorality and patiently endured the harm they inflicted on him through their attempts to seduce him and their imprisonment of him. He sought Allah’s help and supplicated Him to keep him steadfast in chastity. He trusted Him to turn the women’s plotting away from him and patiently endured imprisonment.
