Concerning His words, Most High:
“Is one who stands upon clear proof from his Lord, followed by a witness from Him”
and the verses that follow, up to His words:
“Will you not then take heed?”
Allah, glorified be He, repeatedly describes the distinction between the people of truth and the people of falsehood, and the contrast and differences between them, encouraging the pursuit of bliss and warning against misery.
He begins the surah with this, saying:
“A Book whose verses have been perfected and then explained in detail, from One who is All-Wise, All-Aware.”
“Worship none but Allah. Indeed, I am a warner and a bearer of good tidings to you from Him.”
He thus describes him as a warner and a bearer of good tidings: a warner who warns the people of the Fire of punishment, and a bearer of good tidings who promises bliss to the people of truth.
He then describes the condition of the two groups in prosperity and adversity, saying:
“If We give man a taste of mercy from Us and then withdraw it from him, he becomes utterly despairing and ungrateful.”
“But if We give him a taste of prosperity after adversity has afflicted him, he will surely say, ‘My troubles have left me.’ Indeed, he is exultant and boastful.”
“Except those who are patient and do righteous deeds; for them there is forgiveness and a great reward.”
Then, after this, He recounts the stories of the prophets and the condition of those who followed them and those who rejected them
