copies of the Quran; what is meant, then, is the medium with which the speech is written and through which it is known. Allah Most High says:

Say, “If the sea were ink for the words of my Lord, the sea would be exhausted before the words of my Lord were exhausted, even if We brought its like as a supplement.”

For this reason, these miraculous signs possess a sanctity, such as the she-camel, the water that flowed from between the fingers of the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—and other such signs. And Allah, glorified be He, knows best.
