and that Allah is truthful and wise: He declares only what is true and commands only what is just.
“The word of your Lord has been perfected in truth and justice.”
It has thus become clear that the testimony of Gabriel and Muhammad is the testimony of the Quran, and the testimony of the Quran is the testimony of Allah Most High. The Quran is a witness from Allah, and this witness agrees with and follows the one who stands upon clear evidence from his Lord. For the Quran revealed by Allah bears witness that the clear evidence, insight, light and guidance upon which the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—and the believers stand are true.
“And follows him” uses the verb yatlūhu in the sense of following, as in His words:
“Those to whom We have given the Scripture recite it as it ought to be recited.”
That is, they follow it as it ought to be followed. He also says:
“By the moon when it follows the sun.”
That is, when it follows it. Likewise, qafāhu means “he followed him.” He has said:
“Do not follow that of which you have no knowledge.”
Thus, this witness follows the one who stands upon clear evidence from his Lord, confirming his truthfulness, commending him, supporting him and making him steadfast, as He says:
“Say: The Holy Spirit has brought it down from your Lord in truth, to make those who believe steadfast.”
And He says:
“We relate to you accounts of the messengers with which We make your heart steadfast.”
And He says:
“Those are the ones in whose hearts He has inscribed faith and whom He has strengthened with a spirit from Him.”
Allah has called the Quran an authority in more than one place. Thus, when this authority sent down by Allah follows this believer, it serves to strengthen him and give him mastery in knowledge and action. He says:
“We send down of the Quran that which is healing and mercy for the believers.”
