Allah, intercessors? Say, ‘Even though they possess nothing and have no understanding?’”
“Say, ‘All intercession belongs to Allah. To Him belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth.’”
And He said:
“Say, ‘Call upon those whom you claim besides Allah. They do not possess an atom’s weight in the heavens or on earth, nor do they have any share in either, nor does He have any helper among them.’”
“Intercession does not benefit anyone with Him except those for whom He gives permission.”
And He said:
“Who can intercede with Him except by His permission?”
And He said:
“How many angels there are in the heavens whose intercession is of no avail, except after Allah gives permission to whom He wills and is pleased with.”
Thus, worship and seeking help, together with everything they encompass—supplication, seeking help in distress, reverent fear, hope, turning to Allah, trust, repentance, and seeking forgiveness—are all for Allah alone, without partner. Worship pertains to His divinity, while seeking help pertains to His lordship. Allah is the Lord of all worlds; there is no deity worthy of worship except Him, and we have no lord other than Him—neither an angel, nor a prophet, nor anyone else. Indeed, the greatest of major sins is associating partners with Allah: setting up a rival to Him when it is He who created you. Associating partners with Him means giving someone other than Him a share—that is, a portion—in your worship, trust, and seeking of help, as those who said:
“We worship them only so that they may bring us nearer to Allah.”
And as He, Most High, said:
“We do not see with you your intercessors whom you claimed to be partners concerning you.”
And as He said:
“Or have they taken intercessors besides Allah? Say, ‘Even though they possess nothing and have no understanding?’”
And as He said:
“You have neither protector nor intercessor besides Him.”
The forms of worship include prayer with all its constituent parts taken together, as well as those parts that are acts of worship in their own right: prostration, bowing, glorification, supplication, recitation, and standing. These are appropriate only for Allah alone. Nor may any voluntary act be performed as worship for anyone but Allah alone—not for the sun or the moon
