16
His words:
“Whether you conceal your speech or proclaim it aloud”
demonstrate that speech is sometimes concealed and sometimes proclaimed aloud. This applies only to speech composed of audible letters.
His subsequent words:
“He surely knows what is within the hearts”
draw attention to the greater by mentioning the lesser: if He knows what is within the hearts, then He certainly knows speech that is concealed or proclaimed aloud.
Similar to this are His words:
“It is all the same whether any of you conceals his speech or proclaims it aloud, and whether he hides by night or moves about openly by day.”
{وَأَسِرُّوا قَوْلَكُمْ أَوِ اجْهَرُوا بِهِ}
{إنَّهُ عَلِيمٌ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُورِ}
{سَوَاءٌ مِنْكُمْ مَنْ أَسَرَّ الْقَوْلَ وَمَنْ جَهَرَ بِهِ وَمَنْ هُوَ مُسْتَخْفٍ بِاللَّيْلِ وَسَارِبٌ بِالنَّهَارِ}
