Shaykh al-Islām—may Allah have mercy on him—also said:

Allah has stated in several verses that He blessed the land of al-Shām (Greater Syria). Among them is His saying:

“And We caused the people who had been oppressed to inherit the eastern and western parts of the land We had blessed.”

And His saying:

“And We delivered him and Lot to the land We had blessed for all peoples.”

And His saying:

“Blowing at his command toward the land We had blessed. And We have knowledge of all things.”

And His saying:

“And We placed between them and the towns We had blessed other towns, clearly visible.”

The blessed towns are those of al-Shām, while the others are those of Yemen. The towns between them are those of the Hijāz and nearby regions, and they have perished.

And His saying:

“To al-Aqsā Mosque, whose surroundings We have blessed.”
