that he used to seek refuge, and instruct others to seek refuge, in Allah’s perfect words; some hadiths add that neither the righteous nor the wicked can overstep them.”

Allah Most High said:

“Indeed, the allies of Allah will have no fear, nor will they grieve—those who believed and were mindful of Him. For them are glad tidings in this worldly life and in the Hereafter. There is no alteration to Allah’s words. That is the supreme triumph.”

Allah Most High also said:

“Messengers before you were indeed rejected, but they patiently endured rejection and persecution until Our help came to them. None can alter Allah’s words. And some accounts of the messengers have already reached you.”

In this verse too, He states that none can alter Allah’s words, immediately after saying:

“But they patiently endured rejection and persecution until Our help came to them.”

This makes clear that the promise Allah made to His messengers is among His words that none can alter. When He said concerning His allies:

“For them are glad tidings in this worldly life and in the Hereafter. There is no alteration to Allah’s words,”

He mentioned that they would have no fear, nor would they grieve, and that they would have glad tidings in this worldly life and in the Hereafter. Thus, He promised them freedom from fear and grief, and glad tidings in both abodes.

He then said:

“None can alter Allah’s words.”

This confirms the certainty of Allah’s words conveying His promise, as He said:

“So never think that Allah will fail to keep His promise to His messengers.”

He also said:

“This is Allah’s promise. Allah never breaks His promise, but most people do not know.”

And the believers said:

“Our Lord, grant us what You promised us through Your messengers, and do not disgrace us on the Day of Resurrection. Indeed, You never break Your promise.”

Thus, breaking His promise would be an alteration
