The praiseworthy group is the third: those who call upon Him and repent to Him, remaining steadfast in worshipping Him and repenting to Him in times of ease. They worship and obey Him in both prosperity and adversity. These are the people of patience and gratitude, as He has related concerning His prophets, peace be upon them. Allah Most High says:

“And remember Jonah, when he went away in anger, thinking that We would not constrain him. Then he called out in the darkness, ‘There is no god but You. Glory be to You! I have indeed been among the wrongdoers.’”

“So We answered him and delivered him from distress. Thus do We deliver the believers.”

Allah Most High also says:

“We certainly tested Solomon and cast upon his throne a body; then he turned to Us in repentance.”

“He said, ‘My Lord, forgive me and grant me a kingdom such as will not belong to anyone after me. You alone are the Bestower.’”

Allah Most High also says:

“Has the account of the disputants reached you, when they scaled the wall of the prayer chamber?”

“When they entered David’s presence, he was alarmed by them. They said, ‘Do not be afraid. We are two disputing parties, one of whom has wronged the other. Judge between us in truth, do not be unjust, and guide us to the right way.’”

“‘This is my brother. He has ninety-nine ewes, while I have only one. Yet he said, “Entrust her to me,” and he overpowered me in argument.’”

“He said, ‘He has certainly wronged you by demanding your ewe in addition to his own. Indeed, many partners wrong one another, except those who believe and do righteous deeds—and how few they are!’ Then David realized that We had tested him, so he sought his Lord’s forgiveness, fell down bowing, and turned to Him in repentance.”

“So We forgave him for that. Indeed, he will have nearness to Us and an excellent place of return.”

Allah Most High also says concerning Adam and Eve:
