Majmu' al-FatawaIbn Taimiya

He has said:

“Allah bears witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Him, as do the angels and those endowed with knowledge. He upholds justice. There is no deity worthy of worship except Him, the Almighty, the All-Wise.”

He alone is worthy of worship, and to Him belong justice, might, and wisdom. Only the early Muslim generations and their followers affirm all four. Whoever falls short in his knowledge of the Sunnah has denied the Lord some of His due. The Jahmī determinist affirms neither justice nor wisdom nor Allah’s exclusive right to worship, but only His oneness in lordship.

Likewise, the Muʿtazilī does not truly affirm Allah’s exclusive right to worship, justice with regard to good and evil, or, in reality, might or wisdom—even if he claims to affirm wisdom whose purpose concerns someone other than Him. Yet that cannot constitute wisdom: someone who acts not for any purpose relating to himself, but for another, is, in the judgment of all rational people, not wise in doing so, but foolish.

If praise is offered only for a blessing, then it has been established that it is the head of gratitude. It is therefore gratitude’s beginning. And although praise is for both His blessings and His wisdom, gratitude expressed through deeds
