the verse and its wording. And Allah knows best.
When Satan makes them objects of fear, only those whom he frightens with them become afraid of them. Thus, the verse indicates that Satan makes his allies objects of fear and makes some people afraid of them. It also indicates that the believer must not fear Satan’s allies or fear people.
As the Most High says:
“So do not fear people, but fear Me.”
Rather, the believer must fear Allah. He has commanded fear of Allah and forbidden fear of Satan and his allies.
The Most High also says:
“So that people may have no argument against you, except those among them who do wrong. So do not fear them, but fear Me.”
He thus forbade fearing the wrongdoer and commanded fear of Himself. And those who convey Allah’s messages fear Him and fear no one but Allah.
He also says:
“And fear Me alone.”
Some people say, “My Lord, I fear You, and I fear those who do not fear You.” This is a baseless and impermissible statement. Rather, a servant must fear Allah alone and fear no one else—neither those who fear Allah nor those who do not. For anyone who does not fear Allah is too base and abject to be feared: he is a wrongdoer and one of Satan’s allies, and Allah has forbidden fearing him. And Allah knows best.
