“It is He who sent down to you the Book, explained in detail.”

The Proof:

“There has come to you a proof from your Lord, and We have sent down to you a clear light.”

This is according to one of the two interpretations. The Truth:

“The truth has come to you from your Lord.”

Arabic; Clear; the Best of Discourse; the Best of Narratives, according to one interpretation; the Speech of Allah:

“Then grant him protection so that he may hear the speech of Allah.”

Knowledge:

“Then whoever disputes with you concerning him after the knowledge that has come to you.”

The Exalted; the Wise:

“Indeed, in the Mother of the Book with Us, it is exalted, full of wisdom.”

The Upright:

“Reciting purified scrolls.”

“Containing upright writings.”

“He sent down the Book to His servant and placed no crookedness in it.”

“Upright.”

Revelation, in His words:

“It is only a revelation sent down.”

Wisdom, in His words:

“There have already come to them accounts containing a deterrent.”

“Profound wisdom.”

A Judgment, in His words:

“We sent it down as a judgment in Arabic.”

And News, according to one interpretation of His words:

“About the momentous news.”

And a Warner, according to one interpretation:

“This is a warner like the warners of old.”

In the hadith of Abū Mūsā, it is described as an intercessor whose intercession is accepted and a witness that confirms the truth. The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, called it “a proof for you or against you.” In the hadith narrated by al-Hārith from ‘Alī, it is “a safeguard for whoever holds fast to it.”

As for its being described as recounting, speaking, judging, giving rulings, bringing glad tidings, and guiding, He said:

“Indeed, this Quran recounts to the Children of Israel.”

“This is Our record, speaking against you.”

“Say: Allah gives you a ruling concerning them, as does what is recited to you in the Book.”

That is, what is recited also gives you a ruling.

“Indeed, this Quran guides to what is most upright and gives glad tidings to the believers who act.”
