And none but myself prayed through me, … nor was my prayer for another in any unit of prayer.”

He goes on to say:

“I have always been her, and she has always been me; … there is no distinction: my essence has loved itself.
I have removed the letter tā, marking ‘you’, from between us; … removing it raises me above the divisions of the sects.
If I am called, I am the one who answers; … if I am the caller, she answers whoever calls me and responds.
To myself I was sent, a messenger from myself; … through my signs, my essence found proof of me.”

As for what is attributed to Jesus son of Mary—may Allah’s blessings be upon him—it is falsely attributed to him. These are the words of a lying heretic who fabricated them and attributed them to the Messiah. No Muslim or Christian has transmitted this from him, for it does not accord with what Christians say. The statement reads:

“Allah longed to see His holy essence, so He created Adam from His light and made him like a mirror in which He could behold His holy essence. I am that light, and Adam is the mirror.”

Besides containing disbelief and heresy, this statement is self-contradictory. Allah, glorified be He, sees Himself just as He hears His own speech. Indeed, the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—who is a servant created by Allah, said to his Companions:

“I see you behind my back just as I see you in front of me.”

If a created being can see what is behind him—which is more extraordinary than seeing himself—how could the Creator, Most High, not see Himself?

Moreover, the claim that He longed to see Himself and therefore created Adam implies that, throughout eternity past, He did not see Himself until He created Adam.
