help from them and seeks it from Allah, it has sought it from the Creator of that help, who alone can provide it.
Allah Most High says:
“Whatever mercy Allah grants to people, none can withhold; and whatever He withholds, none can release thereafter.”
And He says:
“If Allah touches you with harm, none can remove it except Him; and if He intends good for you, none can repel His bounty.”
And He says:
“If He touches you with good, He has power over all things.”
And He says:
“Say, ‘Have you considered those you invoke besides Allah? If Allah intended harm for me, could they remove His harm? Or if He intended mercy for me, could they withhold His mercy?’”
The man mentioned in Surah Yā-Sīn said:
“Shall I take gods besides Him? If the Most Merciful intends harm for me, their intercession will avail me nothing, nor can they save me. I would then be in manifest error.”
For this reason, Allah commands people in numerous passages to place their trust in Him alone. A report states:
“Whoever wishes to be the strongest of people, let him place his trust in Allah; and whoever wishes to be the richest of people, let him have greater confidence in what is in Allah’s hand than in what is in his own.”
Allah Most High says:
“Place your trust in the Ever-Living, who does not die, and glorify Him with praise. Sufficient is He as One fully aware of His servants’ sins.”
Allah Most High has commanded that He be worshipped and trusted. He says:
“So worship Him and place your trust in Him.”
And He says:
“Say, ‘He is my Lord; there is no deity worthy of worship except Him. In Him I have placed my trust, and to Him I turn in repentance.’”
Moses said:
“O my people, if you have believed in Allah, then place your trust in Him, if you are Muslims.”
