faith and strengthened them with a spirit from Him.”

Allah Most High also said:

“It is He who sent down tranquillity into the hearts of the believers so that they might grow still further in faith.”

And He said:

“Whomever Allah wills to guide, He opens his breast to Islam; and whomever He wills to lead astray, He makes his breast tight and constricted, as though he were ascending into the sky.”

And He said:

“Allah has sent down the finest speech: a Book consistent in its parts and reiterating its teachings. The skins of those who fear their Lord shiver at it; then their skins and hearts soften at the remembrance of Allah.”

And He said:

“The believers are only those whose hearts tremble when Allah is mentioned, whose faith increases when His verses are recited to them, and who put their trust in their Lord.”

And He said:

“Those who believe and whose hearts find reassurance in the remembrance of Allah—surely, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find reassurance.”

There are many similar passages in the Quran.

Concerning the disbelievers, He said:

“Those are the ones whose hearts Allah does not will to purify.”

And He said:

“Allah has set a seal upon their hearts and their hearing, and over their eyes is a covering.”

There are other similar passages.

We therefore ask Allah the Magnificent, by His grace and generosity, to set right our inward and outward selves and to guide us to what He loves and is pleased with in all our affairs. All praise belongs to Allah, Lord of all worlds. May Allah bless our master Muhammad, his family, and his Companions, and grant them abundant peace.
