Majmu' al-FatawaIbn Taimiya

His commands and prohibitions, ultimately end up following their desires:

“And who is more astray than one who follows his own desires without guidance from Allah?”

This is especially so when their real position is that of “the Jahmī determinists.” They see all created things as equally subject to Allah’s will, without distinguishing between what Allah loves and is pleased with and what He hates and is angered by. Allah loves what is right and hates what is wrong. When they fail to distinguish between the two, black marks are imprinted on their hearts until their hearts become blackened. Right then becomes whatever they desire and love, and whatever they experience and savour spiritually; wrong becomes whatever they feel inclined to hate and whatever repels their hearts. They are like the polytheists who were:

“Turning away from the reminder, like startled donkeys fleeing from a lion.”

Thus, among these people and their followers are those who recoil from the Quran and the revealed law, just as startled donkeys flee from archers and lions. Hence they are described as recoiling whenever they are told, “The Chosen One said…”

Shaykh Ibrāhīm ibn Mi‘dād would say to those he encountered among such people, including the Yūnusiyyah and the Ahmadiyyah: “You swine! You sons of swine! I find among you not the slightest regard for Allah and His Messenger!”

“Rather, each one of them desires to be given scrolls spread open.”

Each of them wants his heart to convey to him from his Lord, so that he may receive directly from Allah without the Messenger’s mediation:

“When a sign comes to them, they say, ‘We will never believe until we are given the like of what Allah’s messengers were given.’ Allah knows best where to place His message.”

A fuller discussion of this belongs elsewhere.

The point here is that the doctrine of “the Qadarī, Jahmī determinists” is even more contrary
