He replied:
“Whoever sits to address people will find people sitting to listen to him. But the people of the Sunnah endure, and their memory endures, whereas the people of religious innovation die, and their memory dies with them.”
These Jahmiyyah, who deny the divine attributes, resemble Pharaoh: they agreed with him in his denial and said that Allah is not above the heavens and that Allah did not speak directly to Moses, as Pharaoh said:
“Pharaoh said, ‘Hāmān, build me a lofty tower so that I may reach the pathways—’”
“‘the pathways of the heavens—and look upon the God of Moses, though I certainly think him a liar.’”
Pharaoh denied the Lord. Had Moses not told him that his Lord was above the world, he would not have said:
“‘And look upon the God of Moses, though I certainly think him a liar.’”
The Most High said:
“Thus Pharaoh’s evil deeds were made appealing to him, and he was barred from the path. Pharaoh’s plotting led only to ruin.”
The Most High also said:
“Pharaoh said, ‘O chiefs, I know of no god for you other than myself. So bake clay bricks for me, Hāmān, and build me a lofty tower so that I may look upon the God of Moses, though I certainly think he is a liar.’”
“He and his soldiers behaved arrogantly in the land without right, and thought that they would not be returned to Us.”
“So We seized him and his soldiers and cast them into the sea. See, then, what was the end of the wrongdoers!”
“We made them leaders inviting others to the Fire, and on the Day of Resurrection they will not be helped.”
“We caused a curse to follow them in this world, and on the Day of Resurrection they will be among the despised.”
And when Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was taken up to his Lord and his Lord prescribed the prayers for him
