“As for the unjust, they will be fuel for Hell.”

Thus, among them are disbelievers, the defiantly sinful and the disobedient. Among them, too, are those who are devout and religious but whose knowledge is somewhat limited, just as among humans. Each kind of jinn gravitates towards its human counterpart: Jews towards Jews, Christians towards Christians, Muslims towards Muslims, the defiantly sinful towards the defiantly sinful, and people of ignorance and religious innovation towards their like.

Humans employing jinn for some purpose is like humans employing other humans. Some employ them for forbidden acts, such as obscenities, injustice, associating partners with Allah, and speaking about Allah without knowledge. They may imagine these to be miraculous gifts bestowed upon the righteous, whereas they are merely the deeds of devils. Others employ them in permissible matters, such as fetching their property, pointing out a place containing wealth that has no owner whose rights are protected, warding off someone who harms them, and similar things. This is like humans seeking one another’s assistance in such matters.

And “the third category” is employing them in obedience to Allah and His Messenger, just as humans are employed for such purposes: commanding them to do what Allah and His Messenger have commanded, and forbidding them from what Allah and His Messenger have forbidden, just as one commands and forbids humans. This was the way of our Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and it is the way of those of his community who follow him and take him as their example. They are the best of creation, for they command humans and jinn to do what Allah and His Messenger have commanded them
