I say: “Benefiting from something” means enjoying it and thereby obtaining what one seeks, wants and desires. This includes the mutual enjoyment of men and women, as Allah says:

“For whatever enjoyment you have had with them, give them their bridal dues as an obligation.”

It also includes indecencies, such as males taking pleasure in males and females in females.

This includes benefiting from employing others and from leaders in positions of authority, just as kings and masters benefit from their soldiers and slaves. It also includes benefiting from possessions, such as clothing. Among the examples of this are His words:

“Provide for them—the wealthy according to his means and the poor according to his means.”

Some of the early generations would give a woman a servant as a parting gift, so that she could benefit from his service. Others would give clothing or financial support. Hence the jurists said: “The highest parting gift is a servant, and the lowest is clothing sufficient for prayer to be valid.”

In sum, humans benefiting from jinn and jinn benefiting from humans resembles humans benefiting from one another. Allah Most High says:

“Close friends, that Day, will be enemies to one another, except the righteous.”

He also says:

“And all ties between them will be severed.”

Mujāhid said: “These are the bonds of affection that were not for Allah’s sake.” Abraham, Allah’s intimate friend, said:

“You have taken idols besides Allah only as a bond of affection among yourselves in this worldly life. Then, on the Day of Resurrection, you will disown one another and curse one another.”

Allah Most High also says:

“Have you seen the one who takes his own desire as his god?”

The polytheist worships whatever he desires. Following one’s desires means deriving enjoyment from what one desires. All of this has occurred among humans and jinn.
