Book: Introduction to Quranic Exegesis
Shaykh al-Islām Ahmad ibn Taymiyyah—may Allah bless his resting place—said in a work he composed late in his life at the Citadel of Damascus:
In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.
All praise is due to Allah. We seek His help, guidance, and forgiveness, and we seek refuge in Allah from the evil within ourselves and from our evil deeds. Whoever Allah guides is rightly guided, and whoever He leads astray has no guide. I bear witness that none is worthy of worship except Allah alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger. May Allah send His blessings and abundant peace upon him and his family.
