says, ‘My utterance of the Quran is created,’ meaning the Quran itself, is a Jahmī.”

The human being and all his attributes are created. His movements, actions, and sounds are created, and all his attributes are created. Whoever says that any of the servant’s attributes are uncreated or eternal is mistaken and astray. Whoever says that any of Allah’s speech or attributes is created is likewise mistaken and astray.

As for people’s voices when reciting the Quran and the ink in copies of the Quran, none of the early generations hesitated on this matter. Rather, they all agreed that people’s voices are created, that all ink is created, and that Allah’s speech, which is written with ink, is uncreated. Allah Most High says:

“Say, ‘If the sea were ink for the words of my Lord, the sea would be exhausted before the words of my Lord were exhausted, even if We brought its like as a supplement.’”
