With this established, we say: This Quran, which we recite, convey, and hear, is the speech of Allah, which He spoke and which the Holy Spirit brought down from Him. As Allah Most High says:
“When you recite the Quran, seek refuge in Allah from Satan, the accursed.”
“He has no authority over those who believe and put their trust in their Lord.”
“His authority extends only over those who take him as an ally and those who associate partners with Allah.”
“When We replace one verse with another—and Allah knows best what He sends down—they say, ‘You are nothing but a fabricator.’ But most of them do not know.”
“Say: The Holy Spirit has brought it down from your Lord in truth, to strengthen those who believe, and as guidance and good tidings for the Muslims.”
“We certainly know that they say, ‘It is only a human being who teaches him.’ The tongue of the person they point to is foreign, whereas this is clear Arabic speech.”
This passage concerns the Quran, of which they said, “It is only a human being who teaches it to him.” Allah refuted this by saying:
“The tongue of the person they point to is foreign, whereas this is clear Arabic speech.”
This shows that what is meant is the Arabic Quran itself, which could not have been taught to him by the non-Arabic speaker they pointed to. It has been said that this was a man in Mecca who was a client of Ibn al-Hadramī. Abstract meanings, however, can be learned from a non-Arabic speaker, unlike this Arabic Quran. This therefore shows that this Quran was brought down by the Holy Spirit from Allah, Blessed and Most High.
