the one who conveys it, and the fact that his voice is created does not mean that the speech itself is created.

Another “group” said: “What is heard is the servant’s voice, which is created. The Quran is not created, so what is heard cannot be Allah’s speech.” This is ignorance, for what is created is the voice, not the speech itself, which is heard both from the one who utters it and from the one who conveys it on his behalf.

Yet another “group” said: “This is Allah’s speech, and Allah’s speech is uncreated; therefore, this voice is uncreated.” This too is ignorance. For when it is said, “This is Allah’s speech,” what is being referred to is the speech itself, which remains the same whether heard from Allah or from one who conveys it on His behalf. When what is heard is called Allah’s speech, it is Allah’s speech heard from one who conveys it on His behalf, not heard directly from Him. Thus, it is heard through the servant’s voice, and the servant’s voice is created. As for Allah’s speech itself, it is uncreated, however it is conveyed.
