Shaykh al-Islām was asked about someone who says:
When certain shaykhs hold gatherings for devotional listening, the “men of the unseen” attend, the ceiling and walls split open, and the angels descend, dancing with them or over them. Some also believe that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, attends their gatherings. What is required of someone who holds this belief? What are the “men of the unseen” like? Do the Tatars have protectors whose state resembles that of the protectors of the community of Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, or not?
He replied:
As for anyone who claims that the angels or the prophets attend “gatherings of whistling and clapping” out of love and desire for them, he is a liar and a fabricator. Rather, it is the devils who attend them, descend upon them, and breathe into them. “Satan said, ‘My Lord, give me a house.’ He replied, ‘Your house is the bathhouse.’ He said, ‘Give me a Quran.’ He replied, ‘Your Quran is poetry.’ He said, ‘My Lord, give me a caller to prayer.’ He replied, ‘Your caller to prayer is the flute.’”
Allah Most High has said in His Book, addressing Satan:
“And incite whoever you can among them with your voice.”
