and humankind, did there not come to you messengers from among you, relating My verses to you and warning you of the meeting of this Day of yours? They will say, ‘We testify against ourselves.’ The worldly life deluded them, and they will testify against themselves that they were disbelievers.”
Allah Most High said:
“Those who disbelieved will be driven to Hell in groups until, when they reach it, its gates will be opened, and its keepers will say to them, ‘Did there not come to you messengers from among you, reciting your Lord’s verses to you and warning you of the meeting of this Day of yours?’ They will say, ‘Yes, but the decree of punishment has come into effect against the disbelievers.’”
He has stated that whoever holds fast to this listening is rightly guided and successful, while whoever turns away from it is astray and wretched.
Allah Most High said:
“When guidance comes to you from Me, whoever follows My guidance will neither go astray nor suffer.”
“But whoever turns away from My remembrance will have a life of hardship, and We will gather him blind on the Day of Resurrection.”
“He will say, ‘My Lord, why have You gathered me blind when I used to see?’”
“He will say, ‘Just as Our verses came to you and you forgot them, so today you will be forgotten.’”
Allah Most High said:
“Whoever turns blindly away from the remembrance of the Most Merciful, We appoint for him a devil who becomes his companion.”
“Remembrance of Allah” sometimes means a servant’s remembrance of his Lord, and sometimes means the Reminder that Allah has sent down. As Allah Most High said:
“This is a blessed Reminder that We have sent down.”
Noah said:
“Do you wonder that a reminder has come to you from your Lord through a man from among you, so that he may warn you?”
And He said:
“They say, ‘O you to whom the Reminder has been sent down, you are surely mad!’”
And He said:
“No fresh reminder comes to them from their Lord but they listen to it.”
And He said:
“Indeed, it is a reminder for you and your people.”
And He said:
“It is nothing but a reminder to all people, for whoever wills
