specifying how His attributes are or likening them to those of creation. They do not deny of Allah what He has affirmed of Himself, nor do they liken His attributes to those of His creation. Rather, they know that nothing is like Allah—in His essence, His attributes, or His actions. Just as His essence does not resemble other essences, His attributes do not resemble other attributes. Allah Most High sent the messengers, who described Him through detailed affirmation and general negation.
The enemies of the messengers—the Jahmiyyah, the philosophers, and others like them—described Him through detailed negation and general affirmation.
For Allah, Glorified and Exalted, has stated in His Book that He knows all things; that He has power over all things; that He is the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all; that He is the Almighty, the All-Wise; that He is the All-Forgiving, the Most Merciful; and that He is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing. He has stated that He loves the God-fearing, those who do good, and the patient; that He does not love corruption and does not approve of disbelief for His servants; that He is pleased with the believers and they are pleased with Him; that He is angry with the disbelievers and curses them; that good words ascend to Him and righteous deeds raise them; that He spoke directly to Moses; and that the Trustworthy Spirit brought the Quran down from Allah to His Prophet Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.
As He says:
“Say, ‘The Holy Spirit has brought it down from your Lord in truth.’”
The Holy Spirit is Gabriel, as He says in another verse:
“Say, ‘Whoever is an enemy to Gabriel—it is he who brought it down upon your heart by Allah’s permission, confirming what came before it.’”
And He Most High says:
“The Trustworthy Spirit has brought it down upon your heart, so that you may be one of the warners.”
And He Most High says:
“On that Day, some faces will be radiant, looking at their Lord.”
And He Most High says:
“For those who do good is the finest reward, and more.”
