and what they stored in their homes. In short, the intention here is not to discuss the prophetic miracles individually, but merely to give examples of them.

As for miracles granted to people other than prophets that belong to the category of “unveiling and knowledge,” examples include what ʿUmar said in the incident involving Sāriya; Abū Bakr’s declaration that his wife was carrying a girl; ʿUmar’s foretelling that a just man would arise among his descendants; and the account of Moses’ companion and his knowledge of the boy’s circumstances.

Examples belonging to the category of “power” include the accounts of the man who possessed knowledge of the Scripture, the People of the Cave, Mary, Khālid ibn al-Walīd, Safīna—the freedman of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace—and Abū Muslim al-Khawlānī. There are many other instances that would take a long time to explain: enumerating them would be like counting raindrops. The purpose is merely to give examples that most people have heard of.

As for power not connected with his own action, examples include Allah’s granting victory to those who support him and His destroying those who revile him.
