And Allah Most High said in another verse:
“It was not the devils who brought it down. It is neither fitting for them, nor are they able to do so. Indeed, they are barred from hearing it.”
They said:
“We do not know whether evil is intended for those on earth or whether their Lord intends right guidance for them.”
“Among us are the righteous, and among us are those otherwise; we have followed different paths.”
That is, they follow various ways, as the scholars have explained: among them are Muslims, polytheists, Christians, followers of the Sunnah, and followers of religious innovation.
“We have realized that we cannot escape Allah on earth, nor can we escape Him by fleeing.”
They stated that they could not escape Him, whether they remained on earth or fled from Him.
“When we heard the guidance, we believed in it. Whoever believes in his Lord need fear neither loss nor injustice.”
“Among us are those who submit to Allah, and among us are the unjust.”
That is, the wrongdoers. The verb aqsata means to act justly, whereas qasata means to act unjustly and oppress.
“Those who submit to Allah have sought out right guidance.”
“As for the unjust, they will be fuel for Hell.”
“If they were to remain steadfast on the way, We would give them abundant water to drink, to test them thereby. Whoever turns away from the remembrance of his Lord, He will subject him to an overwhelming punishment.”
“The mosques belong to Allah, so do not invoke anyone along with Allah.”
“When the servant of Allah stood up to call upon Him, they almost crowded upon him in a mass.”
“Say: I call only upon my Lord, and I associate no one with Him.”
“Say: I have no power to bring you harm or right guidance.”
“Say: No one can protect me from Allah, nor will I find any refuge besides Him.”
That is, a shelter and a place of protection.
“All I can do is convey from Allah and deliver His messages. Whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger will have the Fire of Hell, abiding therein forever.”
“Then, when they see what they have been promised, they will know whose supporters are weaker and whose numbers are fewer.”
