It must also be known that Allah sent Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, to all humans and jinn. Every human and jinn is therefore obliged to believe in Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and follow him: to believe what he conveys and obey what he commands. Whoever has had the proof of his messengership established against him yet does not believe in him is a disbeliever, whether human or jinn.

Muslims unanimously agree that Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was sent to both humankind and jinn. The jinn listened to the Quran and returned to their people as warners when the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was leading his Companions in prayer in the valley of Nakhla upon his return from al-Tā’if. Allah informed him of this in the Quran, saying:

“And when We directed a group of jinn towards you to listen to the Quran, upon attending its recitation they said, ‘Listen attentively.’ Then, when the recitation ended, they returned to their people as warners.”

“They said, ‘O our people! We have heard a Book revealed after Moses, confirming what came before it, guiding to the truth and to a straight path.’”

“‘O our people! Respond to Allah’s caller and believe in him. He will forgive you some of your sins and protect you from a painful punishment.’”
