in contact with impurities and keeping company with dogs, taking shelter in bathhouses, qamāmīn, graveyards, and rubbish dumps. He smells foul, neither purifying himself as prescribed by Islam nor keeping himself clean. The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:

“Angels do not enter a house containing a person in a state of major ritual impurity or a dog.”

He also said of these latrines:

“These latrines are frequented”—meaning that Satan frequents them.

He said:

“Whoever eats from these two foul-smelling plants must not approach our mosque, for the angels are offended by what offends the children of Adam.”

He said:

“Allah is good and accepts only what is good.”

He said:

“Allah is clean and loves cleanliness.”

He said:

“Five harmful creatures are to be killed both outside and within the Sacred Precinct: the snake, the mouse, the crow, the kite, and the vicious dog.”

Another version reads: “the snake and the scorpion.”

He, may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him, commanded that dogs be killed, and said:

“Whoever keeps a dog that serves neither his crops nor his livestock loses one qīrāt of reward for his deeds each day.”

He said:

“Angels do not accompany a travelling party that has a dog with it.”

He said:

“If a dog laps from the vessel of any one of you, let him wash it seven times, once with earth.”

Allah Most High said:

“My mercy encompasses all things. I shall decree it for those who fear Me and give zakah, and those who believe in Our signs.”

“Those who follow the Messenger, the unlettered Prophet, whom they find mentioned in their Torah and Gospel. He commands them to do what is right and forbids them from doing what is wrong, makes good things lawful for them and foul things unlawful, and relieves them of their burden and the shackles that bound them.
