and weight with justice. We do not burden any soul beyond its capacity.”

Allah, glorified and exalted is He, has mentioned belief in what the prophets brought in several places, as in His words, Most High:

“Say, ‘We believe in Allah and what has been revealed to us, and what was revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and the descendants, and what was given to Moses and Jesus, and what was given to the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and to Him we submit.’”

And He, Most High, says:

“Alif Lām Mīm.”

“This is the Book about which there is no doubt, a guidance for those who fear Allah,”

“Who believe in the unseen, establish prayer, and spend out of what We have provided for them,”

“And who believe in what has been revealed to you and what was revealed before you, and are certain of the Hereafter.”

“They are upon guidance from their Lord, and it is they who are successful.”

And He, Most High, says:

“Righteousness is not that you turn your faces toward the east or the west. Rather, righteousness is in one who believes in Allah, the Last Day, the angels, the Book, and the prophets; who gives wealth, despite his love for it, to relatives, orphans, the needy, stranded travellers, those who ask, and to free slaves; who establishes prayer and gives the prescribed alms; and in those who fulfil their pledges when they make them, and who are patient in poverty, hardship, and battle. Those are the ones who have been true, and those are the ones who fear Allah.”

What I have mentioned—that Allah’s allies must adhere firmly to the Quran and Sunnah, and that none of them is infallible such that he or anyone else may follow whatever occurs in his heart without assessing it against the Quran and Sunnah—is something upon which the allies of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, have agreed. Anyone who disagrees with this is not among those allies of Allah, glorified is He, whom Allah has commanded
