Majmu' al-FatawaIbn Taimiya

And “poverty” is a condition he shared with all other poor people, whether it means poverty in the sense recognized by Islamic law—lack of wealth—or poverty in its specialized sense—noble character and asceticism. Yet in his words and those of his Companions, the term refers only to poverty in the legal sense, not the specialized sense. And Allah knows best.
