He was asked:
“Did Abū Bakr fasten a cloak around himself, and did the angels do likewise for his sake, or not?”
He replied:
“Praise be to Allah. Abū Bakr did not fasten a cloak around himself, nor did the angels do so. That is a lie. And Allah knows best.”
وَسُئِلَ:
هَلْ تَخَلَّلَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ بِالْعَبَاءَةِ؟ وَتَخَلَّلَتْ الْمَلَائِكَةُ لِأَجْلِهِ بِالْعَبَاءَةِ أَمْ لَا؟ ؟ .
فَأَجَابَ:
الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ، لَمْ يَتَخَلَّلْ أَبُو بَكْرٍ بِالْعَبَاءَةِ وَلَا الْمَلَائِكَةُ تَخَلَّلُوا بِالْعَبَاءَةِ وَذَلِكَ كَذِبٌ. وَاَللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ.
